You hold space for people, in a class, a session, a workshop. And you’re good at it.

But there’s a moment you may have braced for. Someone’s breathing changes. Tears come. Something big surfaces in the room, and for a second, you’re not sure what to do. Do you keep going? Pause? Say something? Could you make it worse?

That flicker of “I hope no one breaks open today”, that’s the gap this training closes.

And if you’re not holding space for others yet, if you’re simply drawn to understanding trauma, for your own life or out of care for the people around you, you’re just as welcome here.

“Trauma-informed” is on every website now. The words are easy; being trained to actually hold it is not.

Somewhere along the way, two unhelpful ideas took hold: that you’d need years of clinical training to be safe with trauma, or that a line in your bio is enough. Neither is true.

You don’t have to become a therapist, that’s a different job, and a vital one. But you do need real, practical training in what to do when something surfaces. And that is a learnable, teachable thing.

At some point, you will touch something tender in someone. That’s not a failure, it’s the nature of holding space. What matters is knowing what to do when it happens.

BECOME TRAUMA AWARE

People can feel the difference between a space that’s actually safe and one that only says it is

When someone’s vulnerable, a clumsy response, a push, a platitude, a freeze, can do real harm.

Knowing what to do isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s the foundation of being someone people can trust with the tender, unfinished parts of themselves.

Simply drawn to understanding trauma, for your own life or out of care for the people around you, you’re just as welcome here.

Picture that same moment, emotion surfacing in your space, and this time, you don’t freeze

You know how to stay steady, keep the person safe, hold the space without overstepping, and see clearly when and how to refer on. You recognise the signs earlier. You trust yourself.

That steady confidence changes how you show up for everyone you work with, because you’re no longer holding your breath, hoping nothing hard comes up.

What you'll cover

Five topic areas, delivered across three modules of short, bite-sized lessons, self-paced, taught by Rachel & Lucy alongside clinical psychologist Lic. Begoña García, who leads the trauma theory.

What trauma actually is

“Not what happened to you, but what happens inside you”; trauma aware/sensitive vs informed vs trained; the types of trauma; the Trauma Spectrum; and trauma in children.

Stress, the nervous system & the brain

The stress cycle, the three brains, Polyvagal Theory (fight, flight, freeze, shutdown and fawn) and the Window of Tolerance, so you stop villainising activation and learn to widen people's capacity.

Trauma-aware facilitation

Your scope of competence, and clear, practical protocols (with actual scripts) for meeting a trigger, an emotional release or a reactivation, and how to refer on well.

Creating safer spaces

Being regulated and resourced, power dynamics, boundaries, consent and touch, invitational language, encouraging autonomy, and inclusivity.

Responding in the moment

Recognising the signs, and a simple regulation “ladder” of supportive breath, movement and meditation practices for both under- and over-activation, all within your scope.

On completion: when you complete the training, you'll receive your CPD-accredited certificate.

A word on scope

To be clear: this makes you trauma-aware, not a trauma therapist. It never asks you to treat or process someone's trauma. You'll learn to create safer spaces, respond supportively in the moment, recognise what's beyond your role, and refer on with confidence, knowing exactly where your work ends and a specialist's begins.

What our students say

“I'd had students react in ways I didn't fully understand, moments where I felt unsure of what to say, and left feeling under-equipped. This helped me approach those moments with more clarity and compassion. I now feel more grounded, resourced, and aware of my scope as a facilitator.”

Melody

“I feel more prepared as a coach, with greater empathy for my clients and students, and better able to support them. I'm already using what I learned.”

Claudia Urdaneta

“It's given me the confidence to work with some populations that had previously felt intimidating, because I didn't feel I knew how to support them properly.”

Erin

“As someone who never wanted the responsibility of such a heavy topic, this felt like the most beneficial way to help people, the methods are gentle and supportive.”

Kerry Ann

Taught with a clinical psychologist, and drawn from the trauma-aware foundation inside all our trainings, with over 2,000 practitioners trained across TWHP.

This is a 35-hour, CPD-accredited training, and it's really two trainings woven together.

The moment you sign up, you get instant access to both, take them side by side or one after the other, at whatever pace fits your life. Everything's broken into short, clear, bitesize lessons, the thing students tell us they love most is how easy it is to actually take in and use.

25 hours

The Breath Coach Training

The mechanism in your hands.

  • The anatomy and physiology of the breath, and how it's wired to stress and the nervous system
  • The nervous-system states, and the different breaths that calm, lift, steady and settle each one
  • How to spot the common breathing dysfunctions, and how to gently resolve them
  • A full toolkit of breath practices (from ancient traditions to modern modalities), when to use each, how to practise it, and how to coach it
  • The art of coaching the breath: reflective listening, the language you use, and holding both 1:1 and group sessions
  • How to shape a session and meet the person in front of you, safely

…and plenty more, all in short, bite-size lessons.

10 hours

Trauma Aware Facilitation

So you can hold it all safely.

  • What trauma actually is, not what happened to you, but what happens inside you, and how it shows up in the people you work with
  • The nervous system in plain terms: fight, flight, freeze, shutdown and fawn, and the window of tolerance
  • Your scope of competence, what's yours to hold, what isn't, and how to refer out well
  • How to meet a trigger or an emotional release with steadiness instead of panic, harm reduction, not rescue
  • Creating safer, more inclusive spaces: boundaries, language, power dynamics, consent and grounding

This is trauma-aware facilitation: it makes you a safer, more attuned coach. It never asks you to be a therapist, and it's clear about where your role ends and someone else's begins.

Plus a bonus business module, practical support to help you take this work into the world and build a sustainable coaching practice, whenever you're ready.

Rachel and Lucy teaching

We've trained 1,500+ breath coaches

And because we teach the teachers, it reaches so much further: every client they steady, every room they hold.

“Rachel and Lucy were so realistic, they showed me that breathwork can be really subtle. They were careful not to lean on the more aggressive practices, and showed how the smallest changes in the breath can take you a long way.”

Rasha

“I felt no pressure at all. Lucy and Rachel are confident and deeply knowledgeable, and they created a real sense of safety, for me as a student, and for my future clients.”

Karie Snowy Owl

“The simplest, most comprehensive course on how to tap into a powerful resource already within me, my breath. I learned to stop a panic attack in its tracks and calm my nervous system. It's the missing link across every healing modality I've pursued.”

Glen Michael Blair

Why students choose this over other breath trainings

When people weigh us up against other breath trainings, here's what keeps bringing them to us.

  • Trauma-aware from the ground up The reason students name most for choosing us.
  • It fits around your real life Self-paced, with no fixed schedule, so you can do it around work, kids and everything else. One of the biggest reasons people choose us.
  • Accessible, not overwhelming Real, functional practices you can use safely, not big cathartic intensity.
  • Recognised CPD-accredited, plus Yoga Alliance (YACEP) and NASM & AFAA continuing education (1.9 CEUs), so your learning actually counts.
  • Affordable A fraction of most in-person certifications, with lifetime access.
  • Real access to Rachel & Lucy You learn directly from us, with live monthly Q&As and a community where we answer your questions ourselves. The two of us, warm and clear and in your corner.

The best of both worlds

Most trainings make you choose between freedom and support. We built ours to give you both, here's how it compares:

Compare The usual path Our training
Starting You wait for the next intake Start any time
Pace You keep pace with the cohort Your own pace, bite-size lessons
Deadline A short window to certify No deadline on certification
If life gets full You can lose the window, the money or the certificate You keep your place and your progress, and pick it up when you're ready
Support Live teaching with a cohort, or no support at all with on-demand trainings Six monthly live Q&As with us, and a community where we answer your questions
Cost A pricey in-person certification A fraction of the cost, with lifetime access

That's the point of it: you shouldn't have to choose between finishing something and having a life. You get the freedom to fit this around everything else you're holding, and the support to know you're never doing it on your own.

Freedom and support, so you can enrol knowing you'll actually finish, and feel held the whole way.

The 35-hour CPD-accredited Trauma Aware Breath Coach Training

Everything above, plus:

  • Lifetime access to both trainings, the practices are yours to keep and return to for life
  • No completion deadline, life happens, so there's no time limit to certify, you get lifetime access and go at your own pace. We suggest around six months to keep your momentum, but it's yours to choose, and there's no cohort to keep pace with, so you can't fall behind. (The only exception: if we ever chose to retire this training, anyone who hadn't certified yet would have six months from that point to complete it.)
  • Six monthly live Q&A calls with Rachel & Lucy, through your first six months, so you're guided in real time as you learn
  • A lifetime place in our private community, where Rachel & Lucy are in there answering your questions, for as long as you're part of it
  • The full library, of past Q&A recordings and practitioner interviews
  • Recognised & accredited, 35 CPD hours (via the CPD Certification Service), Yoga Alliance continuing education (YACEP), and NASM & AFAA approved (1.9 CEUs)
  • A 7-day money-back guarantee, take a full week with it; if it's not right for you, tell us within 7 days (before you've submitted for your certificate) and we'll refund you, no hard feelings
  • No prior experience needed, we start from the fundamentals and guide you the whole way

SEE THE BUNDLES

This is for you if you want to…

  • Coach the breath in a way that feels safe, accessible and true to you, and hold it all in a trauma-aware way
  • Learn to read what a person's nervous system needs and choose the right practice, rather than run one big generic session
  • Add the breath to the work you already do, bringing in a fundamental, accessible tool for everyone you serve
  • Deepen your own practice and become your own self-healer, some join purely for this, and that's welcome too

What this training is not

We don't teach the big, advanced cathartic practices like rebirthing, holotropic or circular breathing. That's by design.

We focus on the fundamental, accessible practices you can coach safely and confidently straight after the training, the ones that meet real people, in real states, where they actually are.

Questions

Do I need any experience to take this?

No. We start from the fundamentals and guide you the whole way, no prior breathwork or teaching experience needed.

Is it accredited?

Yes, CPD-accredited (35 hours), Yoga Alliance continuing education (YACEP), and approved by NASM & AFAA (1.9 CEUs), so it counts toward your professional development.

How long does it take, and is there a deadline?

It's self-study, so you move at your own pace, most people take a few weeks to a few months. You have lifetime access and no completion deadline, because life happens.

Is it live or self-paced?

Both, the lessons and practices are pre-recorded so you can do them any time, plus six monthly live Q&A calls with Rachel & Lucy in your first six months, and a community where we answer your questions.

Do I need to speak English?

Yes, the training is delivered in English, and your coaching practicum needs to be in English too. If English is your second language, you're very welcome; we take that into account and don't expect perfection, you just need to understand and speak English well enough to take part fully.

How do I get certified?

You work through both trainings at your own pace, filling in the reflection forms and practising your coaching as you go, then complete your practicum and a short quiz at the end to certify, guided the whole way, so by the time you submit, it feels like a formality.

Can I coach others, or teach in schools, afterwards?

Yes. You'll learn to coach individuals and groups. We flag which practices suit children; for school or child settings, check your local insurance requirements.

Can I take it just for myself?

Absolutely, some join to deepen their own practice, others to go on and coach. Both are welcome.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, a 7-day money-back guarantee. If it's not right for you, email us within 7 days for a full refund.
