The Art of Listening
How to listen and reflect in a way that helps clients feel deeply met, and how that creates the safety the body needs before any somatic work can land.

As you watch, notice the moments in your own sessions where you could slow down and reflect a little more. That is often where the body starts to come in.
Your next step
Your First Steps in Somatic Facilitation
You’ve just watched the lecture on listening. The rest of the course takes you from listening into the body: what to do when your client names a sensation, and how to stay with it.
You have learned to ask “where do you feel that in your body?” And your client answers. My chest. My throat, it’s tight. A knot in my stomach.
Then comes the moment where you are not sure where to go from there. So the session drifts back to the story, the place you know how to work, and the sensation they named stays where it was.
You are good at what you do. There is simply a next step you have not been shown yet.
Picture that same moment. Your client names the tightness in their throat, and this time you know your first move. You reflect it back so they feel met. You invite them to stay with it, to notice what it is like, and to witness what happens. You can tell when to slow down, and you know how to move towards something steadier and back again. And you can do all of it from your chair, in the way you already work.

From Rachel & Lucy
Between us, we have taught yoga, breathwork and meditation internationally for years, trained over 2,000 students and written Somatic Practices for Trauma together.
Everything we teach is built around one principle: steady, sustainable change rather than dramatic, dysregulating release. Lasting change does not come from breaking someone open. It comes from helping their system feel safe enough to settle, a little at a time.
Rachel & Lucy
Part one · The short course
Nine lectures and practices, plus a bonus lecture and three downloads, for the moment straight after a client names a sensation: how to meet it, stay with it, pace it, and connect it to what they’re telling you.
How to help someone feel supported and present before you begin, and why every session starts here.
How to reflect back what you hear so your client feels met and keeps going.
A simple sequence for staying with a sensation once it’s named.
Working in small steps, and moving between what’s hard and what’s steady.
A simple partner practice for tracking small changes as they happen.
How your own presence is part of the work.
How to move from what your client is telling you towards what they’re feeling.
Why lasting change comes from helping a system settle, a little at a time, rather than breaking someone open.
A one-page session cheat sheet, a sensations list for when words are hard to find, and a grounding practices guide.
Part two · The Trauma Aware Facilitation Training
The full 10-hour training, taught by Rachel & Lucy with clinical psychologist Lic. Begoña García. It covers what trauma is, the nervous system and the window of tolerance, your scope, and clear steps for what to do when something big surfaces for someone. You’ll finish with your CPD-accredited certificate (10 hours), plus Yoga Alliance (YACEP) and NASM & AFAA continuing education (0.8 CEUs).
The short course gives you the first steps. The training gives you steady ground to take them on.
What practitioners say about the training
“I’d had students react in ways I didn’t fully understand, moments where I felt unsure of what to say. This helped me approach those moments with more clarity and compassion.”Melody
“I feel more prepared as a coach, with greater empathy for my clients and students, and better able to support them. I’m already using what I learned.”Claudia Urdaneta
